Low-binding Surface TechnologySorenson BioScience offers most of their pipette tips with low binding surface technology. A calibrated pipettor may be 99% accurate and precise, but tips can compromise such accuracy and precision by binding sample. Low binding tips improve accuracy and precision by utilizing bonded polymer technology. The proprietary polymer is bonded to the tip to create a hydrophobic surface that reduces the surface tension of the interior wall of the pipette tip and minimizes the bonding of DNA and protein molecules to the tip material. No additives such as silicone are used; consequently, no leaching or sample degradation occur. The chemically resistant polymer is completely inert and is not affected by common laboratory solvents such as chloroform, chloroethane, or acetone.
